About the Journal

Journal of Islamic Economics and Law (JIEL) is published biannually by School of Muamalat and Management, Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor (MARSAH) with aims as the following:

1) To enhance more publication of academic works in the related field
2) To contribute to the new knowledge in Islamic economics and law
3) To expand the research works and trends of Islamic economics and law
4) To enrich the application of theories in Islamic economics and law in local and global economy

The scopes of this journal include; Islamic economy, Islamic banking and finance, Halal industry, Islamic digital economy, Islamic entrepreneurship, Islamic legal issues in economic and finance, consumerism, Islamic wealth management, Islamic hospitality and tourism, and other related fields. This journal will receive contributions from academicians, researchers and practitioners in the industry.

This journal is published in digital format, i.e. e-journal. It is so to increase the readability and citation rates, suitable with the aims of the journal. The articles accepted for this journal can be research works, empirical works, conceptual paper, general review, technical paper, viewpoint, case study and so on.

The first volume will be published in June 2020. In this first volume, the Journal editorial team will select six best articles from International Conference of Islamic Law, Economics and Finance 2019, which was held on November 11-12, 2019 at Lotus Desaru Resort and Spa, Johor. This conference is organized by School of Muamalat and Management, Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor (MARSAH) in collaboration with Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

REVIEWERS GUIDELINES

Thus, to achieve the high standard of article publication, the journal editorial team intends to implement the blind peer-review process to ensure the quality of the articles.

BLIND PEER-REVIEW

The blind peer-review process is vital in the publication of academic article. It does not only help the editor making decision to publish the article but also to improve the quality of the article to achieve the objectives of the journal publication. Reviewers are responsible for giving the valuable insights, constructive feedback and honest review to the author(s). This to ensure the articles published achieve the high standards in academia.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

The reviewer(s) must declare any conflict of interest. It is important for reviewers to disclose any conflict of interest to Journal editor.

CONFIDENTIALITY
The reviewers are expected to treat the articles with full confidentiality. The articles sent to reviewers are solely for the purpose of blind peer-review process. The details of the articles, during and after review process should be treated with confidentiality.

FAIRNESS

The reviewers are advised to give fair and objective review. The review should not be clouded by unfair judgement such as the origin of the articles, religious and political view of the author and also gender, race and ethnicity of the authors.

PERIOD OF REVIEW
Each reviewer is expected to review the article in two weeks minimum and four weeks maximum.

REVIEW FORM AND EVALUATION

 For initial volume, the Journal editorial team implementing open- review. The review can cover all aspects such as good presentation of points and literature review, soundness of arguments, solid and appropriate methodology and analysis, the critical evaluation in discussion and implication, the contribution of the study to the field of knowledge, the depth of the research, the originality, clarity, novelty and so on. The reviewers also can discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the article for authors to assess and evaluate, and make amendments accordingly. The formatting and other technical aspects such as language and citation will be reviewed by journal editorial team. However, the reviewers are welcomed to comment on that aspect if the technical meaning of certain terms are vague.

The Journal editorial team are grateful and express our gratitude to have you as our external reviewers. It is hoped that this contribution of knowledge particularly in Islamic economics and law will benefit of Ummah and modern civilization.
